Our Humble Beginnings in Japan

Sugi Bee Garden traces its history back to 1946 in Kumamoto, Japan. Our founder, Takeo Sugi grew interested in beekeeping and honey production thanks to Kumamoto's warm climate and beautiful flowers. Equipped with just three beehive houses, Takeo Sugi endeavored to extract and produce the highest quality honey around.

Through generations, expert beekeepers and honey manufacturers at Sugi Bee Garden have perfected the honey extraction process.

Sugi Bee Garden maintains its quality by keeping operations in-house, only outsourcing honey and manpower when needed. Their refined extraction and production processes are the result of decades of trial, error, and growth. Sugi Bee also works year-round to ensure optimal honey extraction for the following seasons, including performing activities such as queen bee cultivation and establishing protections against predators and harsh winter weather conditions.

Honey is extracted in the late summer months in Kumamoto,
Akita, and Hokkaido after assessing weather and environmental conditions.

Sugi Bee Worldwide

Today, Sugi Bee Garden is proud to work with apiarists around the world to help ensure and improve long-term sustainability for the industry. Our "Wholesome Apiriculture (Apiculture + Agriculture)" approach to beekeeping and honey production sees us collaborate with other major beekeeping countries, such as Canada, New Zealand, France, and others.

Our collaborations involve overseas work and knowledge sharing, collectively working for the greater good of beekeeping. Bees are essential parts of the global ecosystem, and it is our mission to help maintain their welfare.
Sugi Bee Garden products have also gone international. Today Sugi Bee Garden sells in a handful of stores outside of Japan. Customers in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Thailand can enjoy Sugi Bee Garden products domestically.
